Interview Summary

Bernhard Grunberg was born in Lingen, Germany (near the Dutch border). His father was a cattle dealer, and Bernhard was raised in an orthodox Jewish family.

Bernhard managed to escape Nazi persecution by emigrating to England on the Kindertransport. He married in England in 1947, and worked as an agricultural engineer, farm labourer and handyman.

As an adult he kept his background from various employers.  More recently visits his home town of Lingen, and working at Beth Shalom is very important to him.
